‘You give me butterflies’
Dutch designer Claes Iversen showed his S/S 2011 collection this past 7th of September for an intimate crowd in Amsterdam. The collection finds its inspiration in the passage of time, beauty and fragility in which the butterfly is the main inspiration and metaphor. The short life of the butterfly is synonym for the process Claes seems to surrender himself with every season. From the creation to the collection, to the moment of transformation and presentation, until the beauty that stays forever, even after de collection has ‘flown away’.
As always Claes Iversen combines classic elements with a modern femininity. Colors, embroidery, prints and applications in butterfly shape are a direct reference to the inspiration. Lingerie details, plisses, transparent materials and the use of light feathers refer to the vulnerability and nudity. We see a kind of beauty that endures ephemerality.
I’m a huge fan of this designer. Let us know what you think, leave a message!
