Look | 12 items preppy boy for every girl

02/28/2011 10:03 AM by bomulder | Looks

The ‘Little Boy’ look was set as a fashiontrend by the 1920s; the starting point of emancipation in fashion, which hasn’t yet come to an end. As more women are successful, occupy high positions and are appreciated for all their abilities, we can see that fashion as a reflection of society keeps this look from the twenties alive and kicking. Unlike the grey and dull suits in which some men do business, suits for women are far from boring. This season we’ll see preppy elements, smooth cuts and pretty prints. The perfect trend is brought to the negotiating table where our femininity will still and always work in our favor… and simultaneously is very suitable for an everyday-outfit.

Do you remember wearing this old-school shoe brand Palladium? These heavy worker boots were a huge trend in the 90s but it seems they are setting foot on familiar territory in 2011… Palladium definitely is working on a comeback and I must say I’m a fan!

Find it hard to combine these tough looking boots? Read more to check out some looks with all styles, copy the look above and find out how to win a pair of Palladiums!

Day 6: The fashionshow I attended was Tibi, that I really enjoyed. It started with sweaters and knitted dresses matched to the fluo hat, and these fluo colours will be the real main characters of the new trends. The fashionshow then turned a bit more romantic, with structured dresses and maxi skirts, and of course there also was the heels + socks killer mix. I really loved the tridimensional work on the dresses, and the roses print on the last pieces.

As the count down of days until I jetted off to New York started, my excitement dramatically and hastily grew. My flight from Heathrow left at 9ish on Friday 11th but of course I was up at the crack of dawn, well 4:30 to be precise, which was not greatly appreciated by my friend Paris. As soon we were on the plane I truly felt how surreal the whole situation was and on flying over NY my excitement reached new levels.

With spring waiting for us around the corner, new accessories are ariving. And which item is better to upgrade the simple spring look? Yes, it’s the hat. Why? Hats have always been successful in making a fashion statement whether it’s a jaunty cap, cheerful sunhat, or retro trilby. Forget your It-bags and shoes, and make a real statement with a unique hat!

My fashionweek started with the first fashionshow scheduled: Nicholas K. On the catwalk there were men and women: the clothes were simple and basic and, even if they were not 100% my taste I appreciated the various parkas (I still have to wear the one I got just before leaving) and the particularity of the wedged boots.

It was then the turn of Jenni Kayne fashionshow, organized at the Industria Superstudio where, last April, I took part of the Benetton backstage shooting, how small the world is! The collection was marvellous to me: fluo colours, silk, long skirts, maxi pull-overs, feathers… All I’d like to wear now…

Guest Post: afterDRK explores NYC!

As Fashiolista flew all the way from Amsterdam to NYC, AfterDRK’s Sabrina tagged along for an amazing experience. Check out her NY diaries and instantly get inspired by Sabrina’s style or share your own style at Fashiolista!

As I kinda started to become an Amsterdam Fashion Week expert, I thought it was time for my very first Fashion Week abroad, in New York that is. Fashiolista gave me the amazing opportunity to fly to the Big Apple and make all my dreams come true.

I was a little nervous, because it was my first trip all by myself, but I managed to sleep the whole flight through and was lucky that some of my dear blogger friends were already there.
